Background:
Lab managers of food laboratories face new and unique challenges with increasing testing volume, information management and new regulatory compliance demands due to increased sourcing of foreign suppliers, customer requirements and new food safety regulations. Up until now, there has not been a conference focused on running, managing and equipping a food lab.
The Food Labs Conference will not be focused on just one discipline such as microbiology or chemistry but takes a more holistic approach to best practices in managing food testing and analyses needs.

Food Safety Tech and The Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (Pittcon) have formed a strategic partnership, which will include the co-location of Food Labs Conference in conjunction with Pittcon 2013, which will be held in Philadelphia, March 17-21, 2013, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The agreement provides that the registration fee to attend the two-day Food Lab Conference, March 19-20, will also include unlimited week-long admission to the Pittcon exposition floor and technical program.
Already Registered for Pittcon but not for Food Labs? You can upgrade your Pittcon Registration to include registration to Food Labs using the registration link or upgrading on-site at Pittcon's main registration. You will only pay the difference between the Food Labs Conference Registration and what you alredy paid for your Pittcon registration.

Not so fine print...
Cancellation and Refund Policy: All cancellations must be made via email. Should you not be able to attend the conference, you may have someone else from your organization take your place or use your registration fee as credit towards a future Food Safety Tech event. If these options are not possible, you can receive a refund of the registration fee less a 20% processing fee up until 7 business days prior to the conference. There are no refunds for cancellations within the 7 day period prior to the conference or for "no-shows" to the conference.
Topics and speakers are subject to change without notice. Food Safety Tech reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any program, and the full registration fee will be refunded or applied to the rescheduled program in accordance with the registrant's preference. A landmark consortium addresses persistent food safety concerns by creating a publicly available genetic database of 100,000 most common foodborne pathogens.
Partnership includes co-location of Food Labs Conference with Pittcon 2013 in Philadelphia; Conference will focus on Compliance, Technology, Best Practices.
Pathogen testing is the major contributor (89 percent) to the food safety testing market, estimated at nearly $3 billion, and projected to reach $3.9 billion in 2017. To understand some key trends in the food microbiology testing market, Food Safety Tech spoke with four experts on outsourcing of food safety testing, considerations when choosing a testing method or a lab, emerging technologies, and what the industry would like to see in a “food lab of the future.”
As the 100K Genome Project database provides a better understanding of genotypes associated with particular location or specific food, this information will be used by FDA to focus on foods that may not otherwise be suspected as a cause of illness; translating into more foods, and more food companies, being linked to human illness.
